Cité des Congrès Valenciennes

The Cité des Congrès Valenciennes

A sleek corporate hub, multi-format convention center, & major regional performance venue

Inaugurated in January 2017, the Cité des Congrès Valenciennes is a cornerstone of the region's modern economic and cultural development. Situated just across the city line in Anzin, it anchors the innovative Rives Créatives de l’Escautdistrict—a forward-thinking business park built over the historic footprint of the old Vallourec steel mills. The facility serves as a vital bridge between the area's rich industrial past and its thriving high-tech future, sitting directly across from the Serre Numérique digital ecosystem.

Designed by the architectural firm Chabanne, the complex features a distinctive white beacon tower rising above a massive 15,000-square-meter footprint. It is built as an eco-responsible "intelligent building," fully powered by regional geothermal energy networks and integrated with advanced smart-grid technologies.

Inside the Spaces

The interior layout focuses entirely on high ergonomics and ultimate flexibility, allowing the venue to run multi-day corporate conventions, public trade fairs, and large-scale entertainment tours concurrently without overlapping traffic.

  • The Auditoriums: The venue houses three distinct lecture and performance halls. The largest is the Auditorium Watteau, a masterfully acoustic, 800-seat theater used for comedy tours, symphony concerts, and premier business presentations. The parallel Auditorium Carpeaux (300 seats) and Auditorium d'Épinay (150 seats) cater to smaller assemblies and symposiums.

  • La Nef & Exposition Halls: For major public trade shows, commercial fairs, and standing musical concerts, the massive La Nef pavilion offers up to 2,400 square meters of wide-open, modular floor space capable of holding thousands of visitors.

  • The Roof Top Restaurant: Adding a premium touch for corporate visitors, the venue features an on-site dining space, Le Haut des Rives, operating a panoramic rooftop terrace that looks directly out over the Escaut river canal.

Leisure and Entertainment Integration

While built primarily for professional congresses and summits, the center is a highly frequented local weekend destination. It frequently absorbs popular comedy, theatrical, and concert productions while other regional historic buildings—like the nearby Théâtre d'Anzin—undergo structural updates.

Additionally, the complex incorporates Valengame, a dedicated, highly interactive commercial entertainment wing located within the facility that hosts public recreational zones including BattleKart (augmented-reality go-karting), dedicated quiz rooms, and private karaoke booths.

Location & Practical Info

The venue is exceptionally practical to access, sitting immediately off major regional highway links, featuring an abundance of free parking spaces, and linking seamlessly to public transport.
