House Guide

Windows and Shutters:

To get some fresh air you can use the ventilation function of the windows:

Turn the window handle  a half turn (it fully opened at ¼ turn) to only open the top part of the window.

There is a sliding door to the garden.  To open drop the handle a little lower than a ¼ turn to the right to unlatch. The door will naturally come towards you and slide to the right.

To shut it, slide the panel towards the left and holt it with your foot at the bottom to latch the bottom first.  Then  push the panel in the closed position and lift the handle to its original vertical position.\

The shutters are automated and may open and close at different times, some of the lighting s also on a timer. This helps us keep the house safe

We recommend you keep the door closed to avoid our friendly furry neighbours wondering in the house

Heating:

The house is heated by a hydronic radiator system. Please leave the radiators switched on so the system can operate efficiently.

The temperature is controlled by a connected thermostat that regulates the temperature. The temperature schedule can be modified upon request however we ensure the house is heated to offer the comfort required as per the recommendations of the DPE

Water:

The tap water is filtered and suitable for drinking.

WC:

The plumbing in many traditional French houses is a little more delicate than in modern buildings.

Please use only thin toilet paper in the WC.

Do not flush wipes, paper towels, sanitary products, cotton buds, tissues or any other items.

We also recommend flushing twice when required to ensure waste is carried all the way to the street sewer. Modern toilets are designed to be water efficient and sometimes do not use enough water to fully clear older drainage systems.

If the WC becomes blocked during your stay, a charge of €350 will apply to cover the plumber, call-out costs and any additional cleaning required.

Should a blockage occur, please contact us immediately via the Maison Trianon WhatsApp Group. We will arrange the necessary assistance.

Dishwasher:

Super Easy!

Simply open the dishwasher and load the dishes (the cutlery goes in the basket drawer right at the top of the dishwasher), add a tablet (they are under the sink), press Marche (Start) and select the sensor wash program which take approximately one and a half hours.

To switch the dishwasher off, press Marche again and you're done.

Washer:

Turn the central button to select your program.

Place the washing tablet directly with the clothes and press Start.

The temperature and other details are on the digital display.

We recommend you use a dose of Calgonit provided as the water is very hard.

Dryer:

Place your clothes in the machine and select your program.

Coton Sec (Dry Cotton) takes about 1.5 hours

After use please lease both doors slightly open

Waste Disposal:

The bins are located in the garden shed:

  • Yellow:  Metal, Paper, Boxes, Hard plastics

  • Green: Glass only

  • Grey: Landfill

  • Round green bin: Garden waste

Collection is on Monday morning

On Sunday evenings, please wheel them throught he house to the kerb with the handle facing outwards to be kind to out bin men

Once emptied on Mondays please zoom them though the house back to the shed. It's not the most glamorous journey, but it keeps our friendly mayor and his team smiling.

Thank you!
